not one of the monsters
my friend and i went to sloss in october for the haunted house we were walking around the corner laghing at some of the people dressed up and i saw a shadow in a dark corner we had been messing with the people there all night so i decided that i would go over there and tap the guy on the head but when i reached the corner there was nobody there

Wow!!
Okay..So the last 3 years I've gone to Sloss Fright Furnace for every Halloween. It's great there; Exspeially if you read the history of Sloss before you vist there. The shows there are wounderful. But beware of the wait. Last year I visted Sloss I waited 4 hours before I got the chance to go through it. But I promise, The wait was all okay after the exsperiace of the tour. Hope you come for 2008..I heard it's supposed to be better than any other year.
-Hope to see ya there.

a show before the show.
we went to the My Chemical Romance show on April the 30th and my friend and i decided that we wanted to tour the furnace to kill some time and well we knew the story behind it and wanted to check it out but like there was a room under the back half of the furnace that has like a chair in it and everytime we tried to go in there it was like something kept pushing us back and then in the tunnel we took some pictures and its filled with orbs and my friend said she kept feeling something touch her. i'm now a firm believer that sloss is haunted!

Creepy Feild-trip
In October 2006, My Art class went on a feild trip to Sloss for a tour, around like 11am. When we got about half way we were on the cross walk. Me and my friends were in the very back of the line and the tour guy stopped to show us something. Me and my friend were taking pics with each-other and we felt like someone just blew on our necks, or like it was a breeze. It was very very cold in that spot. so we screamed and we ran up with the rest of the group. But it was really weird because it was only cold in that one spot, nowhere else. And the end of our tour the, tour guy said that the place was haunted that just freaked me out. That was the creepiest feild trip ever.

so much better than i thought it would be!
I went about a week ago, because i was forced to. I went with my mom, my sister, my cousin, and my friend. We ran into another one of my friends there with her sister. Well, we got in line to go in sloss fright furnace and i started getting really scared. i wanted to back out so bad, but my friends wouldn't let me. When we were finally about to go in, after some dead lookin dude screamed the rules. When we went in, i was on the verge of tears i was so nervous. one dude actually got knocked down by my momma, but it was an accident lol. anyway, i was practically on one of my friends' back lol and as we progressed, i acted like i wasn't scared, you know i was laughing at every dude who tried to scare me. now, i have to admit i did scream once, but other than that, the people who worked there, didn't pick on me much, because like i said, i acted like it all amused me. I don't think i wanna go back though lol i just don't like being scared.

It was okay.
There where a few jumps here and there but in all it was pretty okay. But I expected the people and the costumes to be a little scarier you know? But the only reason why I had fun was because I had friends and these cute boys in front of me to hold on too. If you go though have fun because It might be a different experience for you then it was for me. You might even get to see a few ghosts ;D

Made a believer outta me!
Around 2002 or 2003, I accompanied a group of ghost hunters to Sloss. It was a suitably rainy night. I wandered off by myself with just a flashlight when I heard a small rattling following me. The flashlight showed a single empty soda can which rolled right up to my feet & stopped. It wouldn't have been so bad it I wasn't standing on a fairly steep walkway, but what REALLY freaked me out was when I stepped over the can, walked maybe 30 feet back down the walkway & heard the can begin to roll & it once again came right to my feet & stopped before touching me. WAY too far for the wind to be the only cause, so you tell me! What made that stupid can roll so far & follow me in two different directions? I don't know but it made me leave rather quickly without saying goodbye to my friends.

first timer
I just went to sloss last night on friday october 26 with a bunch of friends at the spurr of the moment. It was my first time at sloss and I didnt know what to expect.First off the effects were really good, second the enviroment hellped, but it really didnt scare me,but it scared my bf out of his mind. But the whole time we were there, Whenever I felt like there was someone following me, I would turn around and no one would be there. All in all it was fun. But maybe if I ever get to go back, it will be even better.

Nooooooooooo!!!!!
this was my first time going(2007), my brother wanted to go so bad, so we went on a thursday night. I was already shaking because i was nervous and didn't know what to expect because it was my first time. They finally called our letter and i was kinda pumped and ready to go. We were finally in our group of seven, and the man is telling us how dark it's going to be in there, and how close the monsters are going to get to you, really close in your personal space, and might even brush against you, or chase you. Yeah, that's when i was like i don't think so, and I started to leave, but my brother was like no, you're not leaving! So I stayed for a few more mins, and we went through to see these two dudes standing there all bloodied up and stuff, holding a chainsaw, and like a little hammer or something. They told us to get in line, well actually screamed, so we did. I was trying not look scared, so they wouldn't pick on me, but i guess it didn't work, cause the dude with the chainsaw was screaming all in my face, and i was like omg. They were both ganging up on me. he had the chainsaw right by me swuiping it on the ground, boy i wanted to get out there right then! then we started to move inside the building, and they kept following and taunting us, particulary me. then the chainsaw dude had the chainsaw right in front of me blocking me. And everyone kept walking and i couldn't move, so i had to let go and i was by myself. here comes another dude with a chainsaw that just jumps out nowhere. All three of them surrounding me in my face, with chainsaws, a little hammer thing, and something else.i was screaming really loud. i couldn't move anywhere, and i was not about to go through the ride by myself, so i decided to go back up to the front, they were still following me. so i went under the little chain thing they blocked off. and i started running, i stopped running for a minute, then i heard the dude with the chainsaw right behind me screaming and the chainsaw running, I shot out there quick, fast, and in a hurry! I think i'd try again, just for the fun of it because now i know what to expect, and hopefully i'll actually get inside this time. Ha! ha!

AMAZING TIME!!!!
Ok, first off, this was so f'in scary! My boyfriend and me somehow got stuck at the very end of the line, which was CRAZY b/c they all targeted us. The first guy that talks about Sloss really freaked me out b/c he followed me SO CLOSE and I could feel him breathing on my neck! The person that scared me the MOST though was the very first woman I saw when your going down the cat walk thing and she's standing there.
She got SO CLOSE to me and kept following me I thought I was about to die!! Plus, I did feel like, in some places, that someone was there, but when I turned around there would be no one. I do believe there are real ghosts there. It has that feeling all the way.
You guys did a GREAT job!! I loved the vortex! That shit was AWESOME!!!! The whole thing was terrifying, which I loved!!! B/c if it wasn't scary, I would have felt like I wasted time and money...but I feel that it was worth it!!
Everyone considering going....go for it! You will NOT be disappointed!! I PROMISE!!! Thanks Sloss for a GREAT time!!! Can't wait to go again!!

Sloss is GREAT!!!!!!!!
I found out about sloss before i ever went there for the fright furnace and the place is awesome! I saw Dj Irene there and Live! Never had any freaky experiences...yet. I met a Birmingham native and he told me about the place being haunted. After that I had to go to to the fright furnace. I have gone at least 3 or 4 times. I can't wait, I will be there this year to see all the new stuff. I am sooooo excited!!!!!!!

Awesome experience
The first time I came to sloss , i wasn't too sure of what to expect. I came with several people, including: my mother, brother, and a "chicken sh!t" friend among many others. The whole time we were waiting I was excited and scared at the same time, being chased by a clown with a chainsaw into the ladies room really impacted me. My friend the whole time we were going through the maze had a death grip on my shirt as well as my mothers. To say the least it really made an impact on me. Every year I make an avid attempt to get my chicken friend to come. He to this day refuses the invitation. Thank You Guys for being the best in the biz. Much Love

We made it through Sloss but on the way out my boyfriiend looked down and saw a card with Matt written on it (which is his name) and then when we got to the car my friend noticed finger indentions in his shirt...no one followed behind him while we were there. BEST NIGHT EVER!
i just went last night, and it was my first time ever to go to sloss. it was so much fun! i cannot even describe it! but i cant describe how scary it was either. before you enter at the entrance, there was this guy, who looked sooooo bloody, and has spikes sticking out of his face,
and he was so scary, let me just tell youu. and i was like OH HELL NAW! i aint goin! and i tried to leave, and my friend was like no come on!! and i was like UHHHH noooooo. and then she convinced me, but i still had this like look of terror on my face, and i was turned to the left, and suddenly, on my right side, i feel this really warm, hot wet, sticky breath on my neck, and i heard a guy breathe like he had bronchitus, and i turned and not even an inch away from my face was that scary guy!! i think i peed a little. i was like AUHHHHHH!!! and then i remembered that if you scream or act scared, they wil just get in your face more, so i go HA HA HA! i was soooo just kidding!!!! ha ha ha! see im laughing right now, cause it wasnt scary! =] but wow. the whole expirence was just great!!

Shirt tug
When I went to Sloss in 2005 I was last in line and there was a portion of the tour that took us across a long catwalk that was about 30 feet long, just as i reached the mid point of the catwalk I felt a pretty good tug on my shirt tail, when I turned around to see what it was there was nothing or nobody there and there was no way anybody could have ran away from where I was on the catwalk that fast,or reached up or down to do it because of the height of the catwalk or the distance between the catwalk and the ceiling. It really freaked me out.

i swear i saw something...
i went oct. 5, 07 and i was the 1st to go in with my group so i was a little freaked out but once i got inside i looked up and i saw a shadow or dark looking figure like to the right of the entrance of the trail and i thought it was just something freaky deaky! and someone is trying to scruuur me but once i glanced back up it was gone... talk about freaky shit!

really close encounters
my husband and i went a couple of days before halloween in 2006 after winning free tickets from a local radio show. i was a virgin to the fright furnace so i knew i would be scared out of my wits. but what was really scary to me was the fact that almost every person/creature i passed got so close that our noses could have touched. a good scare is alright but thats just down right invading someone's personal space when you get that close on purpose.
then again, i dont think ive ever been that scared in my life. we are definitely going to go again this year!!!

OMG WUT WAS THAT?!?!
I went 2 the sloss furnace and I was the last 1 2 go in I heard a freaky sound I turned around and saw A GUY WITH A CHAINSAW OMG!!!! that soooo freakin scared me he was running after me I ran as fast as I could then it was finally OVER Yes I was so darn lucky!!!!

The one in skirt & pigtails who crawled through but ran out...
You guys scared the s*** out of me. I've been going to SFF for the past 8 years or so, and it's always been a tad on the lame side.
This year was totally different.
I wore a skirt, stacked sandals and thigh highs, because for the past several years, it really didn't matter what I wore. I figured, what the hell, I'll dress nice. I really should have stuck with the jeans & running shoes that I started off in.
I had my friend Scott in front of me and his brother Mike, John, and two other girls, (I'm sorry I can't remember your names! I'm a jerk!), were behind me. For the parts where I wasn't scrunched up like an accordion (with my legs around Scott's waist and my arms around Mike) while they were carried me, I was either riding on Scott's back, or running for dear life.
Oh, this was amidst the cacophonous screeching that I did the entire way through. But every time I tried to look up, some crazy mother-f***er was following us, breathing down my neck!
And, OH MY GOD, do these people blend into the background. Just when you think it's clear, there's some freak crouched in a dark corner, and I promise, they're virtually invisible, until they come after you.
I wish I could comment more on the setup of the place, but I was so effing scared out of my mind, I couldn't keep my eyes open for most of it or had my head buried under someone's arm (the floors looked great this year).
This one guy tried to hand me some of those 3D glasses for the maze, and after they finally convinced me to take them, I DID start off wearing them, but by the end of the maze, they were crushed beyond cognizance. Yeah, um, I'll pay for those.
By the way, if management asks, I'm the one who requested to have the pads put down for the crawlers. My knees were so skinned up from all the crawling and falling I did (my own stupidity, yes). I did slam into the walls a couple of times from getting totally freaked out and trying to run or jump away.
I also almost fell into some skanky-looking toilet setup, that was covered in this cobweb stuff, which we later found all over Scott's shoe. I really hope I didn't do any permanent damage. If I did, just let Mike know - it's all his and John's faults. &=)
Some clown (literally) found us about halfway through, and that joker had it out for me. I totally hate clowns, as does the rest of the human population. This hooker was hiding UP IN THE CEILING, swung down, and managed to follow us all the way to the end of the trail.
We got to the outside of the trail, and I asked if it was ok to look (probably not the question I should have asked), and everyone was like, "Yeah, we're out! You can look!" I start walking away, and I'll be damned if that clown is still next to me! I shot off like a rocket, went running through the grass, and managed to fall, pulling Scott down with me, ass-up, over a pipe, in a ditch, with my skirt up for the world to see.
Sorry, Birmingham. That's more of me than you ever wanted to see, I know.
I went in there, totally fine and all put together, but I came tearing out of there, pouring sweat, hair askew, pantyhose ripped and down around my ankles, hand bleeding, battered and bruised beyond recognition.
You guys did a hell of a job this year. I'm totally impressed. It was friggin' awesome.
And, John, I'm still pissed I didn't see Slag.
I know most dudes never think this stuff is scary. So, for you guys who don't want some chick crawling and sweating all over you and screaming in your ear, this is probably not the place to bring her. I love to be scared, and yes, I'm a big weenie, so I had the time of my life! Thank you, guys! Even having been through once, I STILL don't think I could manage to go through, again, with my eyes open!
You guys killed this year! &=)
(*By the way, I'm really sorry about all the nuts that were damaged in the universal grabbing. I'm not normally that forward on a first date. You guys should really find a better place to put those things.)

Real footage
Some people who have a investigation group who go around to different ones not to long ago got approval to stay or go to Sloss one night. They seriously lucked up and got some good stuff. Pictures, footage on there camcord, ect. I am pretty sure the people of Sloss who gave them permission to stay there that night are aware of it cause I am sure they asked about the results as part of the approval to stay there. After all, they love hearing about things people witness. Hopefully when they get it together, they will post these things on here. I do hear they got some great stuff! Like a figure looking over the railing at one of the furnaces but couldnt make out a face or anything and then pulling back for example. Course, creepier seeing it then hearing about it. They did get it on camera and camrod though :) People send in messages to the Sloss people so they will post some of it. COME ON!

OMG!!
Ok, I love Sloss, better yet haunted places and attractions period. I love going around to these haunted places and trying to get paranormal activity for myself. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you dont. But from reading alot of these "Haunted" tales on here, mostly youngens around 11-14 talking crap. Sweeties, place dont try to make crap up. I know you think you witness stuff due to being scared but when you for REAL witness something, OOO you know it and an awesome thing. But dont try to talk crap trying to get people to believe in the tales. There are plenty of real tales to prove or get people interested on there own. PLENTY of footage, pictures ect people have been able to capure. Just leave it to them people. Not the youngen non sence. DOnt go in scared. Then your mind places tricks or you see nothing really and think it's something.
