| the awsomest thing ever well i am 11 and i went to sloss.it was the best thing i nhave ever been to.most kids dream about goin to disney kand.while i dreamd about goin to sloss.i got picked on whike i was there cause i was so young.i played along and carried conversation some with the peeps.and to be honest with ya i saw some stuff nobody else saw.like a saw a man and a woman walking.and also wheni was goin throughmy mom was behind me and she would grab me sometimes but when she wasnt i could feel things touching me and i no fr a fact it wasnt the characters cause they aren allowed to touch you.and i worn uyou they have really bad breath. by budder |

| Seen Slag I am a paranormal investigator and have been there 3 times and everytime I have an experience. The last time was a night invest. I have been touched, pushed and grabbed by something. | slaughter at the sloss Me and about nine of my friends last summer whent to sloss in april at three oclock in the morning and it was not open because it was summer time. we had all heard that it was really and truely haunted.We tried to open the door but it was locked. we started to walk around the building to find another way in when the door just swung open! For Real! Most of my friends wanted to turn back but i wanted to go forward so they followed. we took a step in and felt a cold breeze which makes no sense because it was summer and there was no airconditioner on in sloss. But we all over looked it. we kept walking till we found a steel stair case. we walked up it and there were three rooms we didnt know which to go in first. until we saw a dim light flickering in the 2nd room.so we automatically went in it was like we were not even thinking somethinng pulled us in almost.then wwe all saw it laying in the corner of the floor mangled it was a girl looking about twelve. wee screamed anf started to run but when we looked back at her for one more glance she was gone. we try not to talk about it because it freaks us all out so much because we all saw her and her disapear. so we know it is real a group of nine we all haver it whitnessed... by Karen Spritz |

| The Tunnel. In June of 2009, I visited Sloss on research with T.P.R.G. We split up into four teams, and all night long all of the other teams has been experiencing paranormal activity. By the end of the night, we were last in the tunnel. There were 8 of us but, two only lasted 5 minutes into an EVP session. There was one person who was getting feelings and overwhelming visions, and could no long stay down there so another member of our team, escorted her out of the tunnel and calmed her down. In between myself and the person to my left, I felt the presence of someone next to me, taunting me, playing with my hair and the back of my neck. About 8 minutes into the EVP session, we had confirmed paranormal activity but, it was like the spirits were toying with us. Then I looked down to my right, near the entrance and I saw a boy, looking to be about 8 years old, standing there, then he disappeared. About three minutes later a member of the team was getting mad at the spirits for just toying around, so he made the comment, "How many f@!#ing n!**@#s we got in here?" and plain as day you heard 7 beats to the piping and the person to my left was being pushed out of her chair, and let me be clear that she weighs a good 250 pounds. During the time of her being pushed out of her chair, I felt a hand or an arm go through my stomach, pulling and tugging at my insides, like I was being kicked in the gut and a second later, I felt a pair of hands wrapped around my neck, strangling me. I was speechless, I could barely move or breathe. After my teammate who was pushed out of the chair decided to leave, she tugged at my hand and had to pull me up from the chair. The rest of the team stayed down five minutes after we did, then ended the EVP session and returned from the tunnel. The rest of the night I was shaking, I couldn't talk hardly, and my stomach was all knotted up inside. For those of you who are skeptics, you are wrong. Sloss Fright Furnaces is one of the most haunted places I have visited besides the Old Bryce Mental Hospital, in my hometown, Northport, Alabama. by Amanda Harwell |
| MURDER :/ Once we wre walking through sloss furnace and walked through this old abandoned building...I have been a ghost hunter intraining so I wanted to set up.So that night my brother and my dad and I were there then we heard an absolute bloody murder scream.Me and my brother went to see.And there was nothing.So about an hour later we heard it again.So we went back to the hallway and there were about 3 rooms with tags on the doors we heard the scream and I ammediatly knew what room it was in...I turned and saw the slotter room...I almost fainted.We went in and there was nothing in that room at all...we went back in the hallway and heard it in the slotter room again so we went in there and there was blood all over the floor in the middle of the room and I looked up i saw a rope...SAnd I thought people have definantly been murdered and hanged here...After that...We heard a whisper and that whisper said,"It's your turn,or get out!" so after that we left and have never went into an abandoned builing again. by Ashley |

| October 10, 2009 I'm going to sloss saturday with a few friends. i went last year, and had a good time. Sloss isn't really terrifying, but the atmosphere is great. Sloss has a good balance between fun and scary. I've heard many stories about the tunnel. I don't remember that from last year, but I will look for it this year. I hope to have a great time again. | Sloss Opening Day 2009 My wife and I came from Mobile and we had a great time. When we were down in the tunnel you could feel that something just felt different than the rest of the furnace. I am not easy to scare but that did it for me. Hope to come back next year. by Morton |

| fun/scary i have been one time and that was last year. i went with my sister and her boyfriend and yea i was scared because im scared of the dark but i had a really great and fun time out there. im going again this year with my boyfriend. i et really scared easily but i love to go to haunted houses. i cant wait to come back to this one because my boyfriend has never been. do not be scared to go out there its more fun then it is scary. by erica lynn |
| there are spirits in this place!!! i am a 57 yr old grandmother of 5. i have been going to sloss for years. every time we go my small group, ususally just my husband and a few friends, hang back from the larger groups because i have had 8 knee surgeries and i cant hang thinking i will get knocked down by the bigger group. i can tell you that every year down in the tunnel we all feel the presence of something or someone behind us. but when we turn to look there is nothing there. you just feel chilled to the bone down there!! i love this place and will come back every year even if i have to be in a wheelchair!!! by nana from glencoe |

| wonderful boyfriend It was only before me and my current boyfriend started dating that he had told me that he had a great-grandfather that had died in the furnace. Of corse i did not belive him how could I. I then did some reserch and found it as a little family secret. His great grandfather had fell into a boiler of some type while triyng to save a blackman who had fell, they both died together. His family had never been re-embersed for their loss. by Amber |

| Voices caught on camera!! Ok so me,my husband and a friend where in the tunnel and we're asking the "ghosts" questions.While we we're there we never heard anything just akward feelings.When we checked the video at home we could hear what sounds like to be a woman or little girl saying help me.Then you can see something walking beside me and maybe 5-10 mins after that you can hear a ghastly moan.!! | Don't Touch Me I am 49 and not scared easily I went to sloss in 08 and about close to the end a man came up behind me and touched me I turned around no one was there it scared me so bad I ran through a wall knocking the whole wall down. | the most frightening thing ever in my life well some friends and I where checking out the engine room behind the water tower. I found an old locker room way in the back part. It was spooky to begin with, really cramped and dusty. I opened the lockers and looked inside I didn't see anything at all in them. then as I was turning around to leave I bumped into something really hard I dropped my light and when it hit the ground it went out. i was a little freaked out I have to admit, but I found the flash light and when i got it back on all of the lockers that I opened where closed again and there wasn't anything behind me to bump into. I ran out and as I did out of the corner of my eye i could kinda see silhouettes of people watching in the darkness.I wont go in any of the buildings at sloss ever again only outside during the day for me. by james |

| Weird man seen... I worked at Sloss Fright Furnace with a friend, and one night after we had shut down (like 3 in the morning) we we walking through one of the tunnels that was set up for the haunted house. We were working in the middle of the tunnel so we had to walk a ways to get to the staircase to get out. We were the only two working that area that night. As we turned a corner we saw a man in blue looking coveralls and they looked like they were burned or had soot on them. We just chalked it up to one of our cast memebers trying to play a trick on us. When we got back to the crews trailer there was no one in those type clothes. The next night we saw the exact same person walking on one of the catwalks above one of our areas. He looked as if he was watching us. Were he was we did not have access to at all. The whole night I felt as if I was being followed. I felt uneasy even if I was with other people.. | fog room/catwalk the second year that sloss was open, i remember walking up the stairs to the fog room. i was always looking behind the barrels for the next spook, so when we got into the area at the top of the stairs with all the fog, i could see a dark figure behind a set of barrels. i saw it put its hand onto the barrels and they started to fall. me and my friend in front of me both put our hands out at the same time to steady the barrels. they did not fall. i figured the spook would eventually come out to try to scare us but he/she never did. i have always wondered if it was a careless mistake by a spook, or an attempt by a ghost to hurt us by julie |

| something in the dark Last year when I went to Sloss Fright Furnace when my group was walking through the part of the furnace that has that big wheel and it was really dark, and all of a sudden in the distance I see this white thing moving and it looked like it was hiding but I could still see it, at first I thought it was one of the actors and I was thinking "oh he's gonna pop out when we walk by" but we passed by it and I noticed it didn't pop out and I looked to see if it was going to pop out at the people behind us and it didn't. I kept looking at it and it kept moving it looked like a white shadow that was looking at me but it had no face it was turned towards me. by AF |

| a ghost brushed up against my arm I LOVE Sloss Fright Furnace and last year was my first year and I went again this year because since I loved it so much last year I promised myself I'd go every year. This year when me and my friend were waiting for our group to be called I felt something brush up against my shoulder and It felt weird. I thought at first it was my purse strap that slid on my arm but when I looked at the place that I felt it the purse strap wasnt there it fact my purse strap hadn't even moved from the place it was before and I know nobody passed me so I know it was a ghost! Also when we had just finished going through the trail as I was leaving I noticed I had all these red stains that look like blood on the arm of my shirt it was all the arm of my shirt, I think it was the same arm that I felt something brush up against me. | DEMON? well me and two of my friends went 2 sloss and wat happend on the catwalk i will NEVER forget. i was climin up the ladder wit my friends right behind me and about the time i got 2 the top i heard the weirdest scariest noise (it wasnt loud but lik idk very scary) my friend also heard it. i looked up and a demon lookin face appeared right in front of me (i felt its nose touch mine). its eyes were greenish yellowy and face was red kinda black. i just hung there on the ladder in shock. now i know this wasnt some one who worked there cause the "demon" thing mad a noise that couldnt b repeated and it took me out of my shock i pulled bck 2 punch but then it just...disapeared. i know i wasnt seein things cause 1 of my friend saw it 2. i sware i have never been scared 2 go in a dark room by myself but after that i just cant pull myself 2 sleep wit out my closet light on...that was my 1st time 2 go 2 sloss...and also my last. by sulsa |

| Burned We were going through part of the tour where the steps come out from the tunnel and I felt someone grab at my ankle. At first I thought it was just one of the ppl working there to scare you, but when we got home and I started to get in the shower the warm water started burning around my ankle. I looked and saw a near perfect hand print from where someone had grabbed my ankle just a few hours before on those stairs. | Weird..... So a few hours ago I go up to Sloss with my girlfriend to do the whole haunted house thing because neither of us have ever been. So we get there and it's closed. (I was not aware that they're not open on Tuesday nights.) But, the gate is wide open and aside from some beer trucks, my car is the only one in the parking lot. No one else is there. Now I'm all in to ghosts and what not and I know that Sloss is supposed to be really haunted so I convince my girlfriend to go looking for ghosts with me. So we're walking all around keeping our eyes peeled for anything weird and we walk past one of these "electric chair" props with this weird looking dummy in it which I laughed at because it was funny-looking. Then we find this room that's pitch black inside except for a blacklight and I reach out to open the door and I could have sworn that I heard somebody cough. I turn around and look at my girlfriend and she says she heard it too and that she didn't think we should go in that room. So we turned around and started to leave because the weird cough freaked her out. We're walking back the way we came and I realize something is wrong. Then it hits me. The dummy I was laughing at is gone along with his chair. At this point I get freaked out and I can literally feel my heart beating in my chest. So we pick up the pace to try to hurry up and get the hell out of there and we turn a corner and BAM! There sits the exact same dummy from before in the chair. I'm not gonna lie... I screamed like a woman. And as if that wasn't enough, while we're high-tailing it to the exit we start hearing what sounds like people screaming and a weird whistling noise off in the distance. | There or... Not there? My name is Rachel I'm 14 years old I went to Sloss Fright Furnace with my father and my best friend. My father lead our tour group there were about 10 people in our group including us, we would call out warnings to each other like if stairs, water, or monsters were coming up. We were walking in the furnace after the tessla-coil room. There were parts of the iron mill around us. I saw a shadowed figure (thinking it was a monster that would jump out and scare us) I warned everyone.... I was the only one who saw the man. As I rounded the corner coming closer to him we had to pass a metal pole which cut off our view for no more than a second. When I passed I looked back at the place where the man was standing expecting him to jump.....he wasn't there anymore. I'm basing him off my Dad so I think he stood about 5'9", heavy build about 200lbs., dark dirty looking clothes. He was standing with his feet apart even with his shoulders his arms slightly out to his sides. I could not see the man's face it was too dark in the room, upon seeing him though the room seemed to get colder. As we passed he was not there and everything was back to normal. ( As normal as it gets for a haunted factory. ) There was only one way to move out.. to step in our path or.... vanish?! | Holy Moly!!! The 2008 trail is unreal! At the very beginning, they have a crazy skeleton that has got to be 20ft. tall! The actors are totally NUTS! They will hang from the pipes in the ceiling, and scale fences to get to you. It's like they are all acrobats! In one of the rooms, there's a machine that shoots giant lightning bolts over your head, and lots of monsters with chainsaws. In one part of the maze, the walls start to close in on you. The group I was with was walking really slowly, and I almost started to hyperventilate! It was terrifying. I heard that someone actually peed on themselves earlier that night! I believe it. If you like a good show, and can appreciate skillfully crafted props...and you like to have the BEJESUS scared out of you, you should go! How will they ever top this year? by creepisteve |

| twisted and delightful well i was with my ex about 2 years ago visiting the sloss and taking the fright furnace tour.first of all we were pretty much scared out of or wits. lol it was funny we were running and we came up on these steps and she tripped and fell and when she did on her way down she hit an old pipe and left a huge knot on her head and if that wassunt enough when we came to the end of it i got scared pretty much ****less cuz im terrified of chainsaws and the guy at the end of it wassunt focused on anybody but me so he chased me all the way out and i was screaming like a little girl it was awesome.all in all ill def go back and i heard 2008 is soppost to be better well im lookin forward to it next month so be ready for me leatherface lol by zack rodgers |

| Footsteps, banging, nausea So, me and my friends went to sloss furnace in May of 2008. We were so curious about the stories we heard about he old factory. So we decided to go. It was me, my friend Bubba, and Derick. We toured the whole site until we came upon this room called the Blowing Engine Room. Something definetly attracted us to this room. Reportings have shown that there are over 100 sightings in this area. As we roamed the site, we heard footsteps, banging noises, and also felt a blast of cold air as if there was an air conditioner in the room. But, the strange thing about it was that there wasno electricity at all, because it has been closed down for at least 30 years. I also had taken a picture of Derick in front of one the machines called the Wheel, and reportings also state that a man was crushed to death in this machine. keep in mind that i wasn't moving the camera, the picture was perfect, and he wasn't moving either. But, after I took the picture, we noticed that his body was see-through, and half of his head was cut off. That, we cannot expain. Another incident we occured was upon the catwalk; one of the most haunted places in that room. As we began to climb the ladder that leads to the catwalk, I began to feel weak, and lightheaded. I felt like someone was watching us. It was that sense of fear of the unknown. My legs were weak, my heart was beating rapidly, and i was beggining to lose breath. | Wow!! Okay..So the last 3 years I've gone to Sloss Fright Furnace for every Halloween. It's great there; Exspeially if you read the history of Sloss before you vist there. The shows there are wounderful. But beware of the wait. Last year I visted Sloss I waited 4 hours before I got the chance to go through it. But I promise, The wait was all okay after the exsperiace of the tour. Hope you come for 2008..I heard it's supposed to be better than any other year. -Hope to see ya there. ? | a show before the show. we went to the My Chemical Romance show on April the 30th and my friend and i decided that we wanted to tour the furnace to kill some time and well we knew the story behind it and wanted to check it out but like there was a room under the back half of the furnace that has like a chair in it and everytime we tried to go in there it was like something kept pushing us back and then in the tunnel we took some pictures and its filled with orbs and my friend said she kept feeling something touch her. i'm now a firm believer that sloss is haunted! by josh |

| omg well last year was the first time (2007)i went to sloss my uncle told me all about it he use to work there when it was open but anyways i had so much fun when i went but the only thing i had a prob with was the women with the baby hanging half way out of her belly that is just uncalled for but anyways the clown that handed me my 3d glasses kept on picking on me b/c i am so scared of clowns he kept on getting in my face i was so scared i almost wet myself then we went across the spinning tunnle that rocks but rigt as i came out of it at the very end we had to stop and it felt like somebody kept on pulling my arm and there was nodody there tho wired my uncle said it was hunted but i didnt belive him but know i do by rae_rae |

| Creepy Feild-trip In October 2006, My Art class went on a feild trip to Sloss for a tour, around like 11am. When we got about half way we were on the cross walk. Me and my friends were in the very back of the line and the tour guy stopped to show us something. Me and my friend were taking pics with each-other and we felt like someone just blew on our necks, or like it was a breeze. It was very very cold in that spot. so we screamed and we ran up with the rest of the group. But it was really weird because it was only cold in that one spot, nowhere else. | so much better than i thought it would be! I went about a week ago, because i was forced to. I went with my mom, my sister, my cousin, and my friend. We ran into another one of my friends there with her sister. Well, we got in line to go in sloss fright furnace and i started getting really scared. i wanted to back out so bad, but my friends wouldn't let me. When we were finally about to go in, after some dead lookin dude screamed the rules. When we went in, i was on the verge of tears i was so nervous. one dude actually got knocked down by my momma, but it was an accident lol. anyway, i was practically on one of my friends' back lol and as we progressed, i acted like i wasn't scared, you know i was laughing at every dude who tried to scare me. now, i have to admit i did scream once, but other than that, the people who worked there, didn't pick on me much, because like i said, i acted like it all amused me. | Made a believer outta me! Around 2002 or 2003, I accompanied a group of ghost hunters to Sloss. It was a suitably rainy night. I wandered off by myself with just a flashlight when I heard a small rattling following me. The flashlight showed a single empty soda can which rolled right up to my feet & stopped. It wouldn't have been so bad it I wasn't standing on a fairly steep walkway, but what REALLY freaked me out was when I stepped over the can, walked maybe 30 feet back down the walkway & heard the can begin to roll & it once again came right to my feet & stopped before touching me. WAY too far for the wind to be the only cause, so you tell me! What made that stupid can roll so far & follow me in two different directions? I don't know but it made me leave rather quickly without saying goodbye to my friends. by Mark |
| first timer I just went to sloss last night on friday october 26 with a bunch of friends at the spurr of the moment.It was my first time at sloss and I didnt know what to expect.First off the effects were really good, second the enviroment hellped, but it really didnt scare me,but it scared my bf out of his mind.But the whole time we were there, Whenever I felt like there was someone following me, I would turn around and no one would be there.All in all it was fun. | Nooooooooooo!!!!! this was my first time going(2007), my brother wanted to go so bad, so we went on a thursday night. I was already shaking because i was nervous and didn't know what to expect because it was my first time. They finally called our letter and i was kinda pumped and ready to go. We were finally in our group of seven, and the man is telling us how dark it's going to be in there, and how close the monsters are going to get to you, really close in your personal space, and might even brush against you, or chase you. Yeah, that's when i was like i don't think so, and I started to leave, but my brother was like no, you're not leaving! So I stayed for a few more mins, and we went through to see these two dudes standing there all bloodied up and stuff, holding a chainsaw, and like a little hammer or something. They told us to get in line,well actually screamed, so we did. I was trying not look scared, so they wouldn't pick on me, but i guess it didn't work, cause the dude with the chainsaw was screaming all in my face, and i was like omg. They were both ganging up on me. he had the chainsaw right by me swuiping it on the ground, boy i wanted to get out there right then! then we started to move inside the building, and they kept following and taunting us, particulary me. then the chainsaw dude had the chainsaw right in front of me blocking me. And everyone kept walking and i couldn't move, so i had to let go and i was by myself. here comes another dude with a chainsaw that just jumps out nowhere. All three of them surrounding me in my face, with chainsaws, a little hammer thing, and something else.i was screaming really loud. i couldn't move anywhere, and i was not about to go through the ride by myself, so i decided to go back up to the front, they were still following me. so i went under the little chain thing they blocked off. and i started running, i stopped running for a minute, then i heard the dude with the chainsaw right behind me screaming and the chainsaw running, I shot out there quick, fast, and in a hurry! I think i'd try again, just for the fun of it because now i know what to expect, and hopefully i'll actually get inside this time. Ha! ha! by Victoria |

| best freakin thing ive ever done!!! I've never been into a haunted house before and i wanted to prove to my friends i was brave and i did stuff like thiss all of the time. | AMAZING TIME!!!! Ok, first off, this was so f'in scary! My boyfriend and me somehow got stuck at the very end of the line, which was CRAZY b/c they all targeted us. The first guy that talks about Sloss really freaked me out b/c he followed me SO CLOSE and I could feel him breathing on my neck! The person that scared me the MOST though was the very first woman I saw when your going down the cat walk thing and she's standing there. She got SO CLOSE to me and kept following me I thought I was about to die!! Plus, I did feel like, in some places, that someone was there, but when I turned around there would be no one. I do believe there are real ghosts there. It has that feeling all the way. You guys did a GREAT job!! I loved the vortex! That shit was AWESOME!!!! The whole thing was terrifying, which I loved!!! B/c if it wasn't scary, I would have felt like I wasted time and money...but I feel that it was worth it!! Everyone considering going....go for it! You will NOT be disappointed!! I PROMISE!!! | Sloss is GREAT!!!!!!!! I found out about sloss before i ever went there for the fright furnace and the place is awesome! I saw Dj Irene there and Live! Never had any freaky experiences...yet. I met a Birmingham native and he told me about the place being haunted. After that I had to go to to the fright furnace. I have gone at least 3 or 4 times.
